Bloodless medicine is a total approach to a patient’s care, whether in a medical setting or a surgical setting, designed to take alternative steps to avoid the use of blood products. Whether a patient has religious reasons or wants to avoid a blood transfusion for medical reasons, the experts at the Bloodless Medicine and Surgery Program provide care and resources at every step through treatment to educate patients and make them feel comfortable. Just as importantly, they have a deep respect and understanding for the needs of patients for whom blood transfusion is not an option.
