MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center is a Joint Commission and MIEMSS certified Primary Stroke Center. Our Acute Stroke Team includes a board-certified neurologist, and is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to evaluate and treat patients with stroke.
We are focused on prompt evaluation and treatment of acute stroke, preventing stroke related complications, reducing the recurrence of stroke, and educating our patients and their caregivers about stroke risk factors and recognition.
As a Primary Stroke Program, MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center follows the most current guidelines published by the American Stroke Association to improve the outcomes of our stroke patients. The hospital has received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke Gold Plus Achievement Award, a national recognition endorsing the hospital’s continued commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of care for stroke patients.
Stroke is the fifth leading cause of death and a leading cause of disability in the United States.
