Cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation programs are designed to help people with cardiovascular problems, including heart attacks, coronary artery bypass graft surgery, and pulmonary problems, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and respiratory symptoms, recover faster and improve their quality of life. Both programs include exercise, education, counseling, and support for patients and their families.
MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center is proud to announce the certification of its cardiovascular rehabilitation program by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). This recognition demonstrates our commitment to improving the quality of life by enhancing standards of care.
Cardiac Rehabilitation (Phase II)
Cardiac rehabilitation is important for patients with a heart condition or disease, especially those recovering from cardiac surgery. We offer inpatient and outpatient cardiac rehabilitation programs to help patients learn heart-healthy habits and gain emotional support from other participants who have had similar experiences. A physician referral is required.
Pulmonary Rehabilitation (Phase II)
Pulmonary rehabilitation is important for patients with a lung condition or disease. We offer inpatient and outpatient pulmonary rehab programs to help patients learn about lung disease and gain emotional support from other participants who have similar diagnoses. A physician referral is required.
Maintenance Program (Phase III)
One option to continue with an exercise program after completing cardiac/pulmonary rehab is through our Maintenance Exercise Program at MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center. It is an open house program offered 2 days per week.
Do you want to exercise but don’t know where to begin? Have you been diagnosed with a chronic disease and you are not sure what to do? Do you find health clubs intimidating? Our Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation and Medical Fitness staff can answer questions and get you started on a new, healthy lifestyle.
