Your surgeon and anesthesiologist will work together closely and discuss any special needs you may have for postoperative care.
The highly qualified staff of MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center’s Anesthesiology and Perioperative department work closely with your surgeon to determine the best type of anesthesia to use during your surgical procedure. An anesthesiologist may work as part of a team, with a CRNA (certified nurse anesthetist) - a registered nurse who has attended a nurse anesthesia training program and has passed a certification examination. Anesthesia subspecialties include pediatrics, thoracics, bariatrics, regional anesthesia, obstetrics, critical care and acute and chronic pain management.
Before your procedure, your anesthesiologist will review your medical chart, formulate an appropriate anesthetic plan, and explain your anesthesia options. During the procedure, your anesthesiologist will monitor you and make any necessary interventions to ensure your safety and comfort. Your surgeon and anesthesiologist will work together closely and discuss any special needs you may have for postoperative care.
