Director of Strategic and Business Planning, MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center and MedStar Harbor Hospital
Eric began his career in 1983 as an accountant, then joined the Peace Corps for two years in 1985. Between 1987 and 1993 he was in graduate school in a theological seminary in Philadelphia, and spent time overseas working for a church group. Slechter has his bachelor's degree from University of Maryland at Baltimore County in accounting/economics and a master's degree from Westminster Theology Seminary.
Slechter has been part of the MedStar System since 1993. He began his career at the then Franklin Square Hospital Center in 1993, working as an analyst in the Nursing Administration Office, and later as a business manager in the Department of Nursing. He took a position as a planning analyst for Helix Health (FSHC, Church, GSH, HHC and UMH) in 1997, and worked in that role until 2000. In 2000, he received a promotion to the position of planning manager and returned to MedStar Franklin Square to join the Senior Management Team.
In his position as director of planning, Slechter oversees the strategic planning function at MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center, including facilitating the creation of the hospital's three year strategic plan and annual hospital objectives. With 433 licensed beds and a team of 3,450 medical and administrative professionals, MedStar Franklin Square is Maryland’s fourth largest hospital and one of 10 hospitals in the MedStar Health system.
His major responsibilities include: strategic and annual planning, progress measurement on achieving objectives, business development /service line planning, liaison to the Maryland Health Care Commission, Oncology Systemness Committee, and hospital management
Slechter speaks Spanish and can read some Greek and Hebrew. He enjoyed living in the Caribbean for three and a half years.
