Health Care for the Homeless Baltimore County (HCH-BC) medical clinic provides comprehensive care to homeless residents of Baltimore County.

Without access to stable housing, nutritious food, insurance, or even the most basic medical care, homeless individuals face high incidences of poor health—from diabetes and asthma, to heart problems and other chronic conditions—that can become increasingly difficult to manage.

Through collaboration with MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center and Baltimore County agencies, the HCH-BC clinic aims to reduce the burdens of homelessness and improve the health of those in need by providing primary medical care to men, women, and children; case management; mental health services; and addiction treatment.

HCH-BC also offers:

  • Preventive healthcare (physicals, dental care, vision assistance, disease screening)
  • Chronic care for existing conditions
  • Acute (non-emergency) care
  • Immunizations/PPD placement/school physicals
  • Well-woman examinations (pap smears, breast exams, family planning)
  • On-site laboratory (blood draws, urine tests, pregnancy tests, HIV, STI testing)
  • Procedures (skin biopsies, mole removals, wound care, wart treatment)
  • Completion of medical forms (Shelter Plus Care, Adult Day Care, Medical Form 500etc.)
  • Court-ordered evaluations
  • Pharmacy assistance for established patients

Eligibility Criteria

Clients must be homeless residents of Baltimore County. This includes persons residing in shelters, transitional living, or unsheltered settings, as well as those in unstable arrangement and not contributing to living costs (doubled-up with friends or family).

Referral Process

We strongly encourage appointments for all clients, though we accommodate walk-ins when possible. Case managers, agency staff, or healthcare providers can make referrals; clients may also self-refer by calling us or presenting at our clinic in person.

Payment Methods

Uninsured clients are not billed for our services. The clinic will bill insurance for those clients with Medicare, Medical Assistance, and Primary Adult Care.
