Shweta Kurian, MD, has joined the Medical Oncology/Hematology team at The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Cancer Institute. Dr. Kurian is board certified in internal medicine, medical oncology and hematology. Colon and other gastrointestinal cancers, breast cancer, and lung cancer are among her clinical interests.
Dr. Kurian obtained her medical degree from the Government Medical College, Trivandrum, Kerala University, in India, followed by a residency at George Washington University/Providence Hospital in Washington D.C., where she also served as chief resident. She completed a fellowship in the Department of Hematology/Oncology at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital and University of Miami in Miami, Florida.
A member of professional organizations that include the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Society of Hematology, Dr. Kurian also serves as a reviewer for several prestigious medical journals. She is proficient in Hindi, Malayalam, Punjabi and Gujarati.
Dr. Kurian sees patients at the Weinberg Cancer Institute, as well as the Bel Air Oncology practice at the new MedStar Health Bel Air Medical Campus.
