Steven Fleisher, MD, is chief of Gastroenterology and director of Interventional Endoscopy at the Center for Digestive Disease at MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center in Baltimore, MD. He is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Fleisher obtained his medical degree from the University of the Witwatersrand Faculty of Health Sciences. He completed an internship at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital. He went on to complete residencies at Ipswich Hospital and Sinai Hospital. He has also completed a fellowship from the University of Maryland Medical Center.
Dr. Fleisher specializes in diseases of the pancreas and biliary systems and the diagnosis and staging of digestive cancers including colon, rectum, pancreas, stomach, liver and esophagus. He has extensive experience treating a wide range of disorders using traditional as well as advanced interventions such as ERCP, endoscopic ultrasound, balloon enteroscopy, video capsule enteroscopy, mucosectomy, radiofrequency ablation of Barrett's esophagus, and esophageal and biliary stent placement.
Dr. Fleisher is a Fellow of the American Gastroenterological Association and a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the American College of Physicians.
Dr. Fleisher was named a 2015, 2016 and 2017 "Top Doc" by Baltimore Magazine for gastroenterology.
