The American Nurses Association set the theme of this year’s observance, “Ethical practice. Quality care.” Larry Strassner, PhD, RN, FACHE, NEA-BC, chief nursing officer, says, "MedStar Franklin Square nurses demonstrate ethical practice and quality care each and every day through our commitment to Magnet, creating a safe and high reliability organization, and by creating a collaborative, respectful, and professional work environment where nurses want to work."

MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center is proud to recognize individual nurses for their hard work and dedication in the field of nursing during an annual Nurse of the Year Awards Ceremony. Nominations are accepted for nurses in one of several service lines and areas of the hospital. A winner from each area is selected, and then one extraordinary nurse is chosen as Nurse of the Year.
