MedStar Orthopaedics Expands; Welcomes Four Expert Orthopaedic Surgeons at Three New Locations

MedStar Orthopaedics is expanding its orthopaedic program, welcoming four orthopaedic surgeons at three locations in Bel Air, Dundalk, and Rosedale.

orthopaedic surgeonsBaltimore—(March 25, 2014)—MedStar Orthopaedics is expanding its nationally-recognized orthopaedic program, welcoming four new expert surgeons at three new locations in Bel Air, Dundalk and Rosedale. David Cohen, MD, sports medicine surgeon; Michael Dvorkin, MD, joint replacement surgeon; David Gold, MD, sports medicine and joint replacement surgeon; and Ira Gubernick, MD, general orthopaedic surgeon; bring a combined 82 years of practice in treating a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions.

MedStar Orthopaedics welcomes Drs. Cohen, Dvorkin, Gold, and Gubernick to a network of nearly 100 physicians extensively trained in orthopaedic subspecialties that include trauma; hip and knee; spine; shoulder and elbow; hand, foot, and ankle; sports medicine; and physical medicine and rehabilitation. With experts from MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center, MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital, MedStar Harbor Hospital, MedStar Union Memorial Hospital, The Curtis National Hand Center, and more than 20 community locations, patients have convenient access to the region’s best orthopaedics, sports medicine and spine care. The expansion of the program, with the addition of Drs. Cohen, Dvorkin, Gold, and Gubernick, further enhances that access for patients in Baltimore and Harford counties.

Dr. Cohen is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon, fellowship-trained in sports medicine at MedStar Franklin Square. He attended medical school at Virginia Commonwealth University and completed an internship and orthopaedic residency at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital. Dr. Cohen trained at UHZ Sports Medicine Institute, where he completed a fellowship in sports medicine.

Dr. Dvorkin, chair, department of Orthopaedics at MedStar Franklin Square, is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon. He specializes in hip, knee, arthroscopic shoulder surgery and general joint replacement surgery.

After attending medical school at Washington University, Dr. Dvorkin completed an internship at Strong Memorial Hospital and an orthopaedic residency at George Washington University Hospital.

Dr. Gold, medical director of Joint Replacement at MedStar Franklin Square, is a joint replacement surgeon, fellowship-trained sports medicine. He specializes in sports medicine and joint replacement, using both computer-assisted and traditional techniques. In addition to hip, knee and shoulder replacements, he also performs fracture care and general orthopaedic surgery.

Attending the University of Maryland School of Medicine, Dr. Gold completed medical school and went on to fulfill an internship and orthopaedic residency at the University of Maryland Medical Center. He trained at University of Pennsylvania Hospital, where he completed a fellowship in sports medicine.

Dr. Gubernick is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon at MedStar Franklin Square. He performs a wide range of orthopaedic procedures, including trauma surgery.

Dr. Gubernick attended medical school at the Medical College of Pennsylvania. He completed an internship and orthopaedic residency at West Virginia University Hospital.
